The one-act comic operetta Banditenstreiche, set in a harbour town in Italy at the beginning of the nineteenth century, with music by Franz von Suppè, is today more or less forgotten. The libretto was written by one Ludwig Bender and based on a French source by B. Butonnier. The work was first performed at the Carl-Theater in Vienna on 27 April 1867.
